Happy sad happy — CBS Films acquires the rights to Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis

February 19, 2013

CBS Films has landed domestic distribution rights to Joel and Ethan Coen’s Inside Llewyn Davis, their first film since 2010′s True Grit and your monkey’s most anticipated forthcoming 2013 film. Oscar Isaac stars as the (presumably) Dylanesque title character in the film set in the folky milieu of New York’s Greenwich Village in the early 1960s. Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake co-star. Best of all, friend of the program T Bone Burnett is back doing the music for the brahs.

But your monkey is sad☹ because CBS Films has not reliably screened movies for him in the past, and if he doesn’t review this Coen Brothers film it will be the first one he’s missed since before Fargo.

But the good news☺ is, well, they might screen this one for me. Maybe. If I run these photos:

Actually, they’ll probably screen it. The best guess for a release date is December.

Can we start some sort of letter writing campaign to make sure the monkey is allowed to review this movie? Maybe CBS will bow to the will of the people.

I read the screenplay to this film a few weeks ago, and I too would love to see how they flesh it out. Like most of their best work, they take the audience places they never planned to go.

Good luck on getting a screening, I think T Bone owes you one.
