You guys know about Greg Spradlin, right?

December 14, 2012

A chance encounter between legendary drummer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello, Los Lobos, Sheryl Crow, Randy Newman, Bonnie Raitt, Elliott Smith, Graham Parker, etc.) and Arkansas native, Greg Spradlin (The SkeeterHawks, Jim Dickinson, Sin City Allstars) led to a series of recordings that began in Arkansas and moved west to Los Angeles with a cast of musical masters that includes David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Davey Farragher (Elvis Costello, Cracker), Rudy Copeland (Solomon Burke, A. J. Croce, Johnny “Guitar” Watson), Charlie Gillingham (Counting Crows, Train).

Anchored by Greg Spradlin’s southern songs, vocals and playing, Hidalgo and Thomas rock through this album that is equal parts Southern Rock and Country Soul.

The band released a sample of downloads in late-2012, in advance of a full album that will be available in 2013.

**Both songs are also available as free downloads at

Take heart, NCM, and congrats to Greg. You need to be 50ish to be a real bluesman anyway, since youthful self-destruction is no longer an option.
