Arkansas Sounds Festival this weekendSeptember 27, 2012
Lucero, fronted by Little Rock native Ben Nichols, and Southern rock band Black Oak Arkansas will join rockabilly pioneers Sleepy LaBeef and Sonny Burgess and the Legendary Pacers on stage at the inaugural Arkansas Sounds, a music festival presented by the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, a department of the Central Arkansas Library System.
The festival will be held at the Riverfest Amphitheatre and the River Market Pavilions in downtown Little Rock from 5-10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 28) and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 29) at Riverfest Amphitheatre and the River Market Pavilions.
Admission to the festival is free.
The event will feature a tribute to Levon Helm and Michael Burks, two Arkansas artists who died this year, hosted by Amy Garland Angel.
Additional acts include Amasa Hines, Peppersauce Alley, Runaway Planet, The See, Cate Brothers Band, Billy Jones Bluez, Shannon Boshears Band, Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, the Salty Dogs and Velvet Kente.
The festival will have food and beverage tents on site. All beverage sales (sodas, water, beer) will use Arkansas Sounds Drink Dollars which can be purchased at the Drink Dollar Bank adjacent to the beverage tents. Food vendors will not use Drink Dollars but will take cash and/or credit cards. ATMs will be available.
