“On Markham”: Roger Scott, the Kingfish and the Boot

November 26, 2010

Friend of the program, the multi-talented Roger Scott wrote the new lyrics and sings.

And then there’s this. Huey Long wrote this melody, whistling it over the phone to LSU band director Castro Carazo. Long and Carazo collaborated on “Darling of LSU,” “LSU Cadets March,” “Miss Vandy: Dedicated to the Coeds of Vanderbilt University” and, of course, ”Every Man a King.”

Levon Helm does an awesome job covering “Kingfish” on “Electric Dirt”.
